Title: An Economic Approach to Protection of Disadvantaged in the Construction of Harmonious Society
Abstract: Solving the problem of the disadvantaged is essential to the construction of a harmonious society. Comprised of six sectors, the disadvantaged in China is basically characterized by their financial poverty, low level of education, and low social status and friability. The emergence of the disadvantaged is due, economically, to some institutional defects and governance errors. The author proposes that some countermeasures must be taken to tackle the problem: to achieve harmony through development, to establish an effective system to manifest and balance different groups' interest, to promote social justice, to increase employment through industrial development, and to ensure equal opportunity in education.
