Title: STUDY ON HILBERT-HUANG TRANSFORM IN THE ANALYSIS OF NON-STATIONARY VIBRATION SIGNAL
Abstract: Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) is a new signal analysis method, very suitable for analysis of non-stationary signal. The basal principle of the method was explained in detail. A non-stationary vibration signal of rotating machinery was analyzed using the method. Furthermore, through the comparison with the results obtained by short-time Fourier transform (STFT) and wavelet transform (WT), the advantage and disadvantage of HHT used in the analysis of general non-stationary vibration signal were studied. At last, the weakness that, when components closer in frequency were contained in a complex signal, empirical mode decomposition (EMD) of HHT had difficulty in decomposing them into self-independent intrinsic mode functions (IMF), and the reason of it was discussed briefly. The conclusion shows that HHT is better than STFT and WT. HHT has a lot of advantages, such as better resolution capability, better self-adapting, better information integrity, clearer physical meaning, more compact manner, and easier to analyze accurately. At the same time, it also has disadvantages as follow, has end effects, lower speed, difficult to decompose components closer in frequency of complex signal into self-independent intrinsic mode functions.
