Title: Effect of iodine intake on iodine nutrition levels of women in Shenzhen
Abstract: Objective To study the iodine nutrition levels of women in Shenzhen and to provide evidence for adjusting the iodine intake. Methods The drinking water and salt used by women (natural,early pregnant,middle pregnant and lactation)who lived in the city over three years were collected with punctuation,and their urines were also collected to test the iodine content.Results The median(M) of water iodine of 324 cases in suburb and 603 cases in urban were 3.3 μg/L(0.5~15.44 μg/L) and 24.1 μg/L(6.80~42.58 μg/L) respectively .The value of M of salt iodine was all close to 32 mg/kg. The average levels of natural women were 240.1 μg/L in suburb and 312.5 μg/L in urban. Natural and lactation women's iodine nutrition level exceeded order level in urban. The urine iodine below 100 μg/L which in suburb was 9.2% in middle pregnant and 11.2% in lactation,distinct upper than the same group in urban.Conclusion The very low content of water iodine causes the iodine nutrition lack in suburb;the content of water iodine has obvious inhibiting for the iodine lack in pregnant,so we suggest not accession the iodine at the salt in urban areas.
