Title: Study on the Flora of Seed Plant in the Northwest Piedmont of the Bogda Mountain——A Case Study in the Deserted Mountain at Southeast of Urumqi
Abstract:Located in the northwest piedmont of the Bogda Mountain at southeast of Urumqi, the deserted mountain(43°40′~43°50′N,87°34′~87°45′E,900~1 200 m a.s.l.) is a typical temperate gravel desert,it is about ...Located in the northwest piedmont of the Bogda Mountain at southeast of Urumqi, the deserted mountain(43°40′~43°50′N,87°34′~87°45′E,900~1 200 m a.s.l.) is a typical temperate gravel desert,it is about 30 km in length, and its area is about 2 200 hm~2;the annual temperature is 7.8 ℃,winter is long and cold, but summer is short and hot,and the annual precipitation and evaporation are 341.7 mm and 1 756.8 mm respectively;the plant growth, structure, distribution and biomass of vegetation are strongly affected by drought. In this paper, the flora of seed plant in the deserted mountain in northwest of Urumqi,is researched based on the filed-investigated data, specimen data and related literatures. The results show that there are 261 species of seed plant in 180 genera and 42 families in the study area. The local flora is characterized by the relatively abundant floristic components, significant dominance, high proportion of families and genera, less species, complicated geographical elements, diversified distribution types, poor endemic species and young origination. In the plant communities, the life-form and ecological–form of the dominant and community-building species are all xerophyte subshrubs and perennial herbaceous plants, belonging to the temperate desert component. The local flora is representative in the flora in northwest piedmont of the Bogda Mountain.Read More
