Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of bispectral index(BIS) monitoring on anesthetic requirements and waking-up quality of patients undergoing total intravenous anesthesia.Methods Sixty-six patients...Objective To investigate the effects of bispectral index(BIS) monitoring on anesthetic requirements and waking-up quality of patients undergoing total intravenous anesthesia.Methods Sixty-six patients scheduled for functional endoscopic sinus surgery under general anesthesia were randomized into two groups of BIS monitoreing(group Ⅰ) and non-BIS monitoreing(group Ⅱ).Target controlled infusion of propofol and remifentanly was used to both groups.Dosages of intraoperative anesthetics,the time from completion of anesthesia to eye opening,tracheal extubation,response to verbal command and orientation,and the incidence of intraoperative awareness were recorded.Results The propofol consumption was less in group Ⅰ than those in group Ⅱ(P0.05).the times mentioned aboved were all shorter in group Ⅰ than those in group Ⅱ(P0.05).No intraopeartive awareness was found in both groups.Conclusion BIS monitoring can reduce propofol consumption and inprove waking-up quality of patients under total intravenous anesthesia.Read More
