Title: Comparison of axillary radial and ulnar nerve block guided by nerve stimulator
Abstract: Objective To compare the outcomes of axillary bracheal plexxus block(BPB) guided by nerve stimulator. Methods Fifty-six patients scheduled for selective upper limb surgery were randomly divided into two groups with 28 cases each. The patients in group Ⅰ received radial plus musculocutaneous nerves block, and those in group Ⅱ ulnar plus musculocutaneous nerves block.0.25% levobupivacaine was used in a dose of 8ml for musculocutaneous nerve block and 32ml for radial or ulnar nerve blok. The sensory and motor block were assessed at 30min after injection of anesthetic solution. Results The success rate of BPB was significantly higher in group Ⅰ than that in group Ⅱ.There were no significant differences in the outcomes of musculocutaneous, ulnar, and medial nerve block and the success rate of medican nerve blok was lower in both groups. The success rate of radial nerve block was significantly higher in group Ⅰ than that in group Ⅱ.Conclusion Guided by nerve stimulator, better axillary BPB for the operation on the upper limbs can be obtained with radial plus musculocutaneous nerves block than that with ulnar plus musculocutaneous nerves block.
