Title: Relationship between activation of NF-κB and nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetic mellitus
Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between activation of NF κB in the blood mononuclear cell and renal disease in patients with type 2 diabetic mellitus. Methods The activation of NF κB were measured in 41 type 2 dibetics(group A) and 10 control subjects(group D) by electrophoresis mobility shift assay(EMSA).41 diabetics were divided into group B(normoalbuminuria) and group C( albuminuria). Results As compared with group D, the activation of NF κB increased markedly in group A, B and C( P 0 05, respectively), and the highest in group C.Conclusion There exist enhanced the activation of NF κB in the blood mononuclear cell in patients with type 2 diabetic mellitus, especially in patients with albuminuria. These may contribute in some extent to the development and progression in diabetic nephropathy.
