Title: The Effect of Different Surgery on Wavefront Aberrations of Pseudophakic Patients after Cataract Surgery and Intraocular Lens Implantation
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the effect of different surgeries on wavefront aberrations of pseudophakic patients after cataract surgery. Methods Age-related cataract under cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation were divided into 2 groups:phacoemulsification surgery(A group),ECCE surgery with small scleral incision(B group). The Wavefront aberrations of patients at 3 days and 3months postoperatively and those of normaI controls(D group) were measured.Aberrations were compared between the 2 test groups and the control group. Results The differences of the RMS mean values of the overall waefront aberration ang the aberration in high orders bwtween A group and B group at 3d and 3m after surgery were statistically significant(P0.05).For A group, the differences of the RMS mean values of RMSg and RMS4 between 3d and 3m after surgery were statistically significant(P0.05);The difference of RMS3,RMS5 and RMS6 were not statistically significant(P0.05).For B group, the differences of the RMS mean values of RMSg and RMS3~6 between 3d and 3m after surgery were statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion Pseudophakic patients have higher optical aberrations after cataract surgery than normal eyes. The effects of different sugeries on optical aberrations were of great significance.Patients after phacoemulsification surgery have lower optical aberrations than ECCE surgery.
