Title: A High Quality Mesh Simplification Algorithm of Topology Maintenance
Abstract: This paper sutdies the traditional mesh simplification algorithms extensively. Aiming at the deficiencies of the algorithms in fixing the node’ position, processing boundary vertexes and edges, and processing the ambiguity of the progressive mesh’s topological properties, improvements are made. The improved algorithm can maintain the mesh’s physical characteristics effectively, eliminate the ambiguity of the progressive mesh and improve the quality of mesh simplification. The use of the smallest stack to rank the folded error improves the time efficiency of the algorithm. Finally, the experimental results show that the improved algorithm can produce a high-quality mesh and can be widely applied to the simplified model of terrain.
