Title: Clinical efficacy of pneumatic lithotripsy through percutaneous nephroscope for complicated renal calculi
Abstract: AIM:To investigate the clinical efficacy of pneumatic lithotripsy through percutaneous nephroscope under the guidance of X-RaY for the treatment of complicated renal calculi. METHODS:Eight-nine cases of complicated upper ureteral calculi were treated in this hospital from December 2002 to December 2007,including 41 cases of percutaneous renal puncture, and 48 cases of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. RESULTS:Compared with the control group, the stone fragmentation rate for one time(87.80% vs 41.67%) and calculus clearance rate in 3 months postoperatively(75.61% vs 35.42%) were significantly increased in study group(P0.01). CONCLUSION:Pneumatic lithotripsy through percutaneous nephroscope under the guidance of X-RaY is a safe technique with less injury, less residual stones and high success rate, which plays an important role in the clinical practice.
