Abstract:In this paper,a novel approach to predict the damping performance of magnetorheological(MR) dampers based on finite element method is explored.For a self-sensing MR damper,the distribution of the magn...In this paper,a novel approach to predict the damping performance of magnetorheological(MR) dampers based on finite element method is explored.For a self-sensing MR damper,the distribution of the magnetic field at the damping gaps can be assessed through finite element method based analyzing on the 2-dimensional finite element model.Based on the analyzing results with ANSYS/Emag and the mechanical model of the self-sensing MR damper,which is assumed to work in the mixed mode of the shear mode and the valve mode of the MR fluid,the Simulink block to realize the performance prediction of the MR damper with MATLAB/SIMULINK is established and the damping characteristics of the MR damper can be assessed.Read More
