Title: Study on Antimicrobial Activities of Aqueous Extract from Balanophora Japonica
Abstract: Objectives:To investigate the inhibition role of total aqueous extract(TAC) and its separating components (SCs) from Artemisia argyi on staphylococcus aureus, escherichia coli, klebsiella pneumonia, hebsiella terrigena, pseudomonas aeruginosa and salmonella typhi. Methods; The antimicrobial activity of TAC from Artemisia argyi was investigated with K - B method and turbidimetric method. The minimum inhibitory and minimum bactericidal concentrations(MIC and MBC) were studied by bisection method. The bacteriostasis rate of SCs was studied with turbidimetric method. Results;TAC showed strong and wide antibacterial activity.Different SCs showed different bacteriostasis,in which elute from silica gel(eluted with ethanol:triethylamine = 1 000:1) had the strongest antibacterial activity. Conclusion:Both TAC and SCs have antibacterial activity, and further antimicrobial screening and structure identification are under the way.
