Title: The effect of individualized drinking plans on spinal cord injury patients with intermittent catheterization
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of individual drinking plan on spinal cord injury( SCI) patients with intermittent catheterization. Methods One hundred twenty patients with spinal cord injury were divided into experimental and control groups according to the wards. The all patients in the two groups received the rehabilitation therapy and intermittent catheterization. In addition, the control group received the conventional water plan while the experimental group received individual water plan. Two months later, drinking water plan compliance, bladder rehabilitation effect, and incidence of urinary tract infection were compared between the two groups. Results The drinking water program compliance in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group( P 0. 01). The bladder rehabilitation effect in the experimental group was better than that in the control group( P 0. 01). The incidence of urinary tract infection in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group( P 0. 01). Conclusion The implementation of individual water plan can significantly improve the drinking plan compliance, bladder function rehabilitation, and greatly reduce the incidence of urinary tract infection in patients with spinal cord injury.
