Abstract:In the present work,the authors performed a study on calculation of total solar radiation over Chongqing City and analyzed its temporal and spatial distributions with the aim of offering meaningful re...In the present work,the authors performed a study on calculation of total solar radiation over Chongqing City and analyzed its temporal and spatial distributions with the aim of offering meaningful reference to utilize solar energy resources and diagnose the change in the regional climate there.First,based on the meteorological data regarding monthly total radiation,monthly percentage of sunshine duration,monthly mean low cloud cover and monthly mean relative humidity from the Shapingba Station in Chongqing during the period of 1988-2007,calculation and analysis were performed on the basis of the climatic calculation principles of total solar radiation.A series of climatic formulas depicting the relationships between total solar radiation and relevant meteorological variables like percentage of sunshine duration were selected.Second,the monthly total solar radiation of the Chongqing Shapingba Station during 1988-2007 was calculated in terms of selected formulas at the first step.The climatic calculation formula most appropriate to be used over Chongqing was ultimately determined on the basis of the relative error between calculations and observations.Third,the monthly total solar radiation for each weather station in Chongqing during 1988-2007 was calculated on the basis of the determined climatic equation from the second step.Temporal and spatial distributions of total solar radiation were analyzed in detail.The results indicated that,in general,the integral effect of a single factor(the sunshine percentage) linear fitting was fairly good,but its months' error in winter was quite big.Linear fitting of double factors(the sunshine percentage and low cloud) made the relative error reduced and significantly improved the integral effect of fitting.Percentage of sunshine duration was shown to be the main influencing factor of total solar radiation over Chongqing,and foggy days and low cloud also had important influence on total solar radiation in winner.In addition,the total radiation of Chongqing increased year by year,and this tendency was directly related to the changes in the actual sunshine duration and low cloud.The northeastern areas of Chongqing had the largest amount of total solar radiation while the southeastern areas of Chongqing had the smallest total solar radiation.Read More
