Abstract:Objective To study the dose distribusion of different chest wall radiotherapy techniques for treatment of the patient with breast cancer after radical mastectomy.Methods Patients and dosimetric phanto...Objective To study the dose distribusion of different chest wall radiotherapy techniques for treatment of the patient with breast cancer after radical mastectomy.Methods Patients and dosimetric phantom had CT scaned in the theraputic position.CT image are transmitted to the TPS by local network.The volume of target?internal mammary(IM) and lung were delineated.Three dimensional treatment planning were performed for four techniques.1 Gy tumor dose was delivered to the target on the phantom according CT based treatment planning.Dose measurement with TLD were performed on phantom.Results The measurment showed that the average dose of chest wall was over 0.90 Gy for all three techniques but electron arc therapy(EARC).Acceptable IM target dose was reached with EARC and Tangent field plus IM electron field technique.The IM target was underdosed in 0.62 ~0.78 Gy for tangent and conformal field technique respectively.The EARC technique treats the lest volume of lung to high dose significantly.It is obvious from the Dose Volume Histolgram that the ipsilateral lung volume to high dose was reduced with conformal field technique using MLC.The measurement showed that the skin dose was up to 0.90 Gy with 1cm bolus.Conclusion Each irradiation technique presently discussed has its dose characteristic,the appropriate technique would be determined depending on the feature of the case.Read More
