Title: Combustion Characteristics of Free-Jet Micro Premixed Flames
Abstract: The combustion characteristics of micro methane/air premixed flames in quiescent air have been experimentally studied. Both flame height characteristics and micro-scale effects on flame extinction characteristics have been investigated. The results show that micro premixed flames are laminar flames, that flame height is proportional to mean rejection velocity, and that flame height decreases as equivalence ratio decreases. At the same equivalence ratio, dimensionless parameter H/d(flame height/diameter) is linearly proportional to Re number of micro tube port.To micro premixed flames, quenching velocity and minimum equivalence ratio increase obviously because of micro-scale effect, which is caused by unstable and quenching flames resulting from enhanced heat and mass diffusion effects.
