Title: Clinical Study of Qingre Qutan Decoction for Treatment of Senile Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the effect of Qingre Qutan Decoction on inflammatory factors and oxidative stress in patients with senile chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods:Sixty patients suffering from COPD were equally randomized into two groups. The control group was treated with conventional treatment for six week. The treatment group received Qingre Qutan Decoction for six weeks on the basis of conventional treatment. The serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6) and interleukin-8(IL-8),and the activities of plasma superoxide dismutase(SOD)and maleic dialdehyde(MDA) were detected before and after treatment. Results:The total effective rate was 100% in the treatment group, and was 93% in the control group, the difference being significant(P 0.05).The differences of serum levels of TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-8,and the activities of plasma SOD and MDA in both groups were significant before and after treatment(P 0.05).Statistical significant differences of all indexes were found between the two groups after treatment(P 0.05).Conclusion:Qingre Qutan Decoction has certain effect for COPD by relieving inflammation and regulating the imbalance of oxidation and anti-oxydation.
