Title: Distribution and Conservation of Galliformes in Sichuan
Abstract: Sichuan is one of the most important habitats of Galliformes in China.A study was conducted to research the distribution and conservation of Galliformes in Sichuan.The data are based on the results of 58 provincial field surveys in recent 10 years,and reports and literatures collected from 1929 to 2005 by both Chinese and foreign researchers and the samples of three museums in Sichuan.The results show that: 1) 25 species of Galliformes are recorded,among them 16 species are national protected birds,and 7 species are endemic to China.2) According to the analysis of the richness of Galliformes by GIS,Pingwu,Songpan,Nanping,Mianzhu,Yele,Kangding,Qingchuan and Baoxing are the richest counties in Galliformes in Sichuan.Pingwu,Songpan,Nanping,Yele,Kangding,Qingchuan and Baoxing are the richest counties in protected Galliformes in Sichuan.3) There are 86 counties(of 159 in total) which are short of records of Galliformes.These counties need more field works on Galliformes distributions.
