Title: Ultrasound evaluation of relativity between intima-media thickness of carotid artery and coronary atherosclerotic disease
Abstract: Objective To investigate the relativity between the coronary artery atheresclerotic disease(CAD) and intima-media thickness(IMT) of carotid artery on ultrasound images. Methods The IMT and plague scores of carotid artery were measured in 40 CAD patients and 40 healthy coronary patients on transthoracic echocardiography(TEE).Results The IMT(1.39+0.67mm) and plague scores(1.69+0.15) of carotid artery in CAD patients were all larger than those of the control group(0.83+0.14 mm)and(0.28+0.17).There was statistically significant difference between the two groups.(P 0.01).Conclusion The IMT of carotid artery shows good relativity with CAD which might reflect the extent and range of CAD.CAD could be predicted with ultrasonic carotid artery parameters.
