Title: On the Metaphors of Morning Song from the Perspective of Cognitive Poetics
Abstract: Morning Song is the master work of the mother-theme poems by American female poet Sylvia Plath.The multiple metaphors employed in the poem are the core of the entire poem.This article attempts to interpret the metaphoric connotation of the poem from the perspective of cognitive poetics so as to reveal Plath's cognitive state of thinking,her joyful and contradictory psychological change as a new mother.Therefore,it is more helpful to gain an insight from her ingenious artistic technique and to appreciate the rich literary aesthetic implications of the poem.
