Title: Differences in antioxidant properties under osmotic stress in wheat seedling leaves with different drought resistant variety
Abstract: In order to find out the active oxygen eliminating mechanism about wheat drought resistance ascension,the differences of leaves antioxidant properties were determined in different drought-resistant wheat seedlings Yunong 202(weak drought resistance) and Luohan 7(strong drought resistance) under PEG-6000 osmotic stress.The results indicate that the biomass of wheat seedings was significantly reduced under osmotic stress,and that of Yunong 202 was reduced to a larger extent.The production rate of O —·2 varied with different drought-resistant wheat types.Yunong 202 showed significant increase under osmotic stress,but Luohan 7 showed small change and significant increase under low and high osmotic stress.The content of MDA and H2O2 increase with the degree of stress increased,and that of Yunong 202 increased to a larger extent.The activity of SOD,POD and CAT significantly increased under osmotic stress,and the growth of Luohan 7 increased much more than that of Yunong 202,but the change of CAT activity was not significant under high osmotic stress.These indicate increased drought resistance of wheat plants might be related to increased activity of antioxidant protection enzyme,the main difference between wheat drought resistance depends on SOD and POD activity.
