Methods: (1) Forty-seven patients with stable angina petoris were r...Objective: To observe the effects of TongMai granules especially on exercise tolerance and life quality of angina pectoris patients. Methods: (1) Forty-seven patients with stable angina petoris were randomly divided into two groups, one is the group of Isosorbide dinitrate (n=23) receiving Isosorbide dinitrate 10 mg tid, the other is the group of TongMai granules (n=24) receiving TongMai granules 3 g Bid. Symptomatic improvement and side effects were observed, angina pectoris attack frequency and nitroglycerin dosage within one week, exercise tolerance and life quality were recorded before, one months and three months after the treatment respectively. Other anti-ischemic nitoglycerin was administered. Results: Angina pectoris on TongMai granules, exercise tolerance and life quality were also improved markedly. Its total efficacy rate was 79.2%, but not as good as on the group of Isosobide dinitrate. In the third month the effects of TongMai granules improved further, while those of Isosorbide dinitrate declined. There is significant difference between in the two groups (P0.05). Throughout the observation, headache, flush and postural hypotension occurred in six patients on Isosorbide dinitate, whereas no such occurrences were seen in the groups on TongMai. Conclusions: TongMai granules is effective in the tratment of angina pectoris, significantly reducing attack frequency, nitroglycerin dosage and improving exercise tolerance and life quality with less drug resistance and side effects compared with Isosorbide dinitrate.Read More
