Title: Application of spiral CT scanning and multi-mode three-dimensional reconstruction in diagnosis and treatment of lumbar disc herniation
Abstract: Objective:To evaluate the application of spiral CT scanning and multi-mode three-dimensional(3D) reconstruction in lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods:87 patients with LDH detected by computed tomography(CT) and confirmed by operation in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were performed several kinds of 3D reconstruction, including multiplanar reconstruction(MPR),shaded surface display(SSD) and virtual endoscopy(VE) for revealing lesions. Results:In this group,L4~5 and L5~S1 were the predilection sites of LDH.The main CT manifestations were the soft tissue shadow backward or laterally protruded to the frontal edge of spinal canal and compressed dural sac.The multi-mode 3D reconstruction not only showed the protrusion and bulging of lumbar disc, but also revealed the diseases of vertebral body, accessories and adjacent tissues. Conclusion:The multi-mode 3D reconstruction of CT has important diagnostic value for diagnosing LDH and lesions of vertebra body, accessories and adjacent tissues.
