Title: On floral and geographical components and botanical traits of alien weeds in Jinhua suburban
Abstract: Based on surveys of community plots in Jinhua suburban during spring and autumn, background data of the alien weeds in the area were obtained.Based upon the investigation, together with previous researches,73 exotic weed species, belonging to 54 genera and 24 families, were recorded from the suburban of Jinhua.Among these alien weeds,Oenothera laciniata was an alien weed new to the centre of Zhejing Province, and Lactuca serriola new to eastern China.Compositae(species/genera=21/17),Gramineae(7/5),Leguminosae(7/5),Amaranthaceae(7/2),Euphorbiaceae(4/2),Convolvulaceae(4/2) were the dominant families. The analyses also showed that: 1) Species were rare in general genera,as high as 75.90% genera only including 1 species and 22.22% genera containing 2~3 species;2) The main geographical elements of the exotic weed genera were Cosmopolitan,Pantropic,North Temperate,Tropical Asia Tropical America disjuncted,Old World Temperate, accounting for 39.47%,21.05%,18.42%,13.16% of the total respectively(excluding cosmopolitan).Compared with the flora geographic elements of Mount Bei in Jinhua, higher tropical proportion was found in alien weed, and special attention should be paid to species with Tropical Asia Tropical America disjuncted distribution pattern;3) Totally about 81% of the alien weeds originated from America(59%) and Europe(22%),so appropriate measures to control the introduction of these original plants would be essential.Further analyses on the alien weeds revealed the botanical traits in relation to their invading disturbed habitat successfully as follows: short minimum generation time for annuals and biennials;higher tolerance to being trampled;being toxic;with large abundance of small seeds;diverse patterns in seeds distribution. These traits could provide a basis for the predictive theory on plant invasiveness.
