Title: Effects of Sevoflurane Anesthesia on Cognitive Function in Rats
Abstract: Objective:To explore the effects of sevoflurane anesthesia on cognitive function in rats. Methods:Female and male rats were randomly divided into three groups on average, control group(n=16,S0 group)、2% sevoflurane group(n=16,S1 group)、3% sevoflurane group(n=16,S2 group). They were raised in suitable environment,S1 group and S2 group were inhaled 2% and 3% sevoflurane respectively,2 hours per day, continued 5 days; The control group did not inhale sevoflurane.Cognitive function was detected 4 times a day for 5 consecutive days one week later, using Moms water-maze(MWM)test after the last inhalation(T1~5).The latency, percentage of swimming time in the platform quadrant(Tp/T)and swimming traces within 2 minutes after the removal of platform were recorded. Results:The rats in S2 groups meet the training standards for a longer times and learn more times than that at T1(P0.05),compared with group S0;while there were no significant differences between S1 group and S2 group at T2(P0.05).Conclusion:There are no significant changes in cognitive function after 2h 2%sevoflurane inhalation, while 3%sevoflurane can induce cognitive decline in rats.
