Title: A Semantic Contrast on Chinese and English Color-word
Abstract: Language is the carrier of culture, and it also reflects culture. Culturally-loaded words are common in each language. Quite a number of color terms from Chinese and English languages have their special cultural implication. The paper discusses the similarities and differences of cultural meanings of color terms in Chinese and English and points out that history, customs and traditions, value systems, ways of life, and geographic locations are all the essential factors to cause the different cultural connotation.
