It was an important component of thinking and solving problem mathematically in the learning mathematics. With the development of the number sense, students could have a deeper understanding of number concept and their manipulation skills could be further enhanced. In this light, it was essential to have an understanding on the number sense as elaborated in the 揗athematics Curriculum Standards? It was important to, by realizing the importance of number sense in mathematics education, cultivate a number sense among the students in the teaching of number concept, in the teaching of number manipulations and in the guidance of student problem solving processes.
