Title: Provincial Knowledge Spillovers and the Agglomeration of Regional Innovation Activities——Analysis Based on the Spatial Econometrics Method
Abstract: It analyzes the spatial agglomeration of innovation activities from the perspective of knowledge spillovers.Firstly,it analyzes the regional distribution pattern of the innovative activities, calculates the spatial concentration degree, and verifies the spatial correlation of innovation activities by the Moran's I index.Secondly,it constructs the knowledge-production function containing knowledge spillovers, and conducts the empirical research by the spatial econometrics method. The result shows that the agglomeration of innovative activities is caused by knowledge spillovers between adjoining regions, the differences of scientific investment and the amount of personnel input.Among these factors, the spillover effects of the knowledge will decay with the increase of geographic distance.Within 900 kilometers, the spillover effect is dense while it will decay rapidly by 1200 kilometers. It reveals the reason of spatial agglomeration of innovation activities.
