Title: Analysis of Risk Factors and Preventive Measures for Patients with Severe Nosocomial Infection in Department of Neurology
Abstract: Objective To explore the risk factors and prevention measures for patients with severe nosocomial infection in department of neurology. Methods A total of 227 patients( 54. 57%) among 416 critical patients in department of neurology had nosocomial infection, and risk factors such as age, disease types, infection parts and pathogenic bacteria types in the 227 patients were analyzed. Results The infection rate of patients with severe nosocomial infection in department of neurology was 54. 57%( 227/416). Related factor analysis showed that the older the age was,the higher the infection rate was( 112 patients over 60 years old,49. 3%); the longer the hospital stay was,the higher the infection rate was( 88 patients over 28 d,38. 8%); the main infection diseases were cerebral infarction( n = 99,43. 6%) and hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage( n = 61,26. 9%); the infection parts from high to low were 59 cases of upper respiratory tract infection( 26. 0%),45 cases of lower respiratory tract infection( 19. 8%), 36 cases of mouth cavity infection( 15. 9%),31 cases of the urinary system infection( 13. 7%),25 cases of digestive system infection( 11. 0%),20 cases of skin infection( 8. 8%) and 11 cases of other infections( 4. 8%); patients with invasive operations, combination of basic diseases and use of antibiotics and glucocorticoids had higher infection rates, and the differences were statistically significant( P 0. 05). Conclusion Risk factors for inpatients with severe nosocomial infection in department of neurology are invasive operation, combination of basic diseases and use of antimicrobial agents. To control relating risk factors can prevent hospital infections effectively.
