Title: The Dynamic Evaluation of Ecological Security during the Process of Rapid Urbanization in Henan Province
Abstract: Based on the ecological footprint theory, this paper constructed an evaluation model for regional ecological security assessment, and quantitatively evaluated the dynamic changes of ecological foot and ecological security in Henan province during the year from 1995 to 2008.The results show that the per capita ecological footprint in Henan province has been increased from 1.258 8 hm2 in 1995 to 2.613 2 hm2 in 2008.The main reason is that the fossil-energy footprint increased 3-fold during the same time. The ecological deficit of per person has been increasing rapidly from 2000 with the growth from 1.161 6 hm2 to 2.113 7 hm2,which results in the quick decrease of ecological security index from-1.675 0 to-2.373 5.This results show that the social-economic development in Henan province is unsustainable, and the ecological environment is in the state of insecurity, and even worse tendency. Finally, this paper gived suggestions to reduce ecological footprint and energy consumption, and maintain ecological security.
