Abstract:[Objective]To study the relationship of unilateral middle cerebral artery(MCA)stenosis or occlusion of compensatory collateral circulation and neurologic impairment.[Methods]86 patients with MCA infar...[Objective]To study the relationship of unilateral middle cerebral artery(MCA)stenosis or occlusion of compensatory collateral circulation and neurologic impairment.[Methods]86 patients with MCA infarction in blood supply area,the TCD examination was carried out within 1 week and the scores on the day of admission and 21th day were evaluated with U.S.National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS).[Results]65 patients had anterior cerebral artery(ACA)compensatory,32 patients had posterior cerebral artery(PCA)compensatory,27 patients have both ACA PCA compensation.RVACA in patient group was significantly higher than the control group(P﹤0.01);RVACA in MCA trunk and the cortical branch infarction patients was significantly higher than the control group and the deep perforating branch infarction group(P﹤0.01,P﹤0.05).Patients with both ACA and PCA compensatory,NIHSS scores on the 21th day were significantly lower than the ACA or PCA compensatory patients;and in ACA compensatory patients was significantly lower than PCA compensatory(all P﹤0.01).[Conclusion]The middle cerebral artery stenosis is more severe,collateral opening has the incidence with higher frequency and level;patients with good collateral circulation have relatively mild disease condition,the prognosis is good.Read More
