Title: Numerical Simulation of Forging Process for 5083 Aluminum Alloy Flange
Abstract: Using FVM,the forging process of a kind of 5083 aluminum alloy flange was simulated numerically.The distributions of velocity field,the material flowing state and effective stress and strain filed of different shape of forging billets were analyzed.The simulation results show that by adding a conic angle at the outer wall and enlarging the radius of fillet angle of the billet,the defects of collapse and cracks can be efficiently avoided.An improving project for the die design is proposed,that is adding a flash gutter at the inner wall of the piece to facilitate the forging deformation.
