Title: Effects of Different Regiments of Clonidine Added to Ropivacaine Mesylate for Epidural Anesthesia
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of different regiments of clonidine added to ropivacaine mesylate for epidural anesthesia. Methods Sixty ASA Ⅰ~Ⅱ patients, aged 27~55 yr,weighing 50~76 kg,undergoing elective gynecological surgery with epidural anesthesia were randomized into four equal groups, with respect to the regiments of clonidine added to 0.894% ropivacaine mesylate solution: group 1(R) with no clonidine and served as control;group 2~4 received clonidine 50,100,150μg respectively(R-C50,R-C100,R-C150).The duration of analgesia, the onset time of motor block and its duration, the quality of analgesia and sedation, and compliments were recorded during the peropertive time or after operation. Results The average onset time of motor block was significantly shorter, the incidence of the visceral pain and the shivering, and assistant medicine requirement in group R-C100 and R-C150 were less than that in group R.Meanwhile, this study showed obviously sedative effect. The duration of analgesia and motor block was longer in the latter two groups compared with group R.However, the fluid infusion and epinedrine requirement was increased for the high incidence of hypotension in group R-C150.Conclusions The addition of clonidine 100μg added to 0.894% ropivacaine mesylate 20mL can enhance the quality of epidural anesthesia without increasing the adverse effects.
