Title: Rural Society and the Village Election——On the Factors Affecting Villagers' Participation in the Election
Abstract: As villagers are the principal part of the village commune, the key point to realize their self-governance is whether villagers actually participate in village autonomy. Without their real participation, village autonomy will just be an empty formalism rather than a feasible system. Election is the significant part of autonomy. Ordinary villagers and the outstanding ones react differently to it for their different positions in rural society. The following is to discuss the different reactions to election and analyze the factors influencing these two kinds of villagers' participation, so as to further study and find the practical way of promoting a significant and real participation in politics in rural society.
