Title: Using diuretic renogram in diagnose pediatric hydronephrosis due to anomalies of pyeloureteral junction
Abstract: Objective To explore the possibility of diuretic renogram instead of intravenous urogra-
phy to diagnose pediatric hydronephrosis due to anomalies of pyeloureteral junction. Methods From Aug.
1995 to Oct. 2001, 52 children(47 boys and 5 girls) with hydronephrosis who underwent both diuretic
renogram and intravenous urography before dismembered pyeloplasty were retrospectively analyzed. The ag-
ing ranged 2 months to 13 years with a mean of 6.5 years. Results Accuracy of intravenous urography is
100% in comfirming the site of obstruction, so did diuretic renogram, There were no differences between
diuretic renogram and intravenous urography in diagnosis of obstruction of pyeloureteral junction (P
0.05). Conclusion It is applicable to use diuretic renogram instead of intravenous urography to diagnose
hydronephrosis caused by obstruction of pyeloureteral junction.
