Title: The FDTD method for analysing two-dimensional photonic bandgap structure
Abstract: The concept of photonic crystal is explained in this paper.The bandgaps of the quasi one-dimensional(1D) and two-dimensional(2D) photonic crystal is analysed and simulated by using finite difference time domain(FDTD) method and numerical calculation.The finite difference time domain method is also developed for the study of transmission characteristics of quasi 1-D and 2-D mixed photonic crystals.The results show that the quasi 1-D and 2-D complex photonic crystal bandgaps became wider than general photonic crystal.
