Title: Academic-tutorial-based Teacher-Student Relationship in British Universities:A Case Study of Heriot-Watt University
Abstract: In recent years,because of enrollment expansion and some other factors,there appears a gap,indifference,even conflict and opposition between teachers and students in China's colleges and universities.And this phenomenon has been affecting the effectiveness of higher education,its reputation,and the construction of a harmonious campus culture.The features of British academic tutorial include tutorial as its platform,assessment as its aid,self-teaching as the method of conducting classes,awareness of the rules as the bottom-line of conduct and network technology as its support.And the measures to improve the teacher-student relationship in China are making reform in assessment of teachers' performance and teaching methods,improving the management of teachers,perfecting the rules and regulations of administration,and establishing an effective mechanism for teacher-student communication.
