Systematic examination on the invasion rates and intracellular multiplication was performed at different incubation time. The results shwed that the earliest time for the tachyzoites invaded the cardiomyocytes was at 10 min. The invasion rates were increased along with the prolonged duration of infection. Tachyzoites displayed an 8 hours lag phase of non-multiplication period. The doubling time of RH strain parasites was approximately 8 hours. In conclusion, the cardiomyocyte invasion by Toxoplasma gondii tachyzoites and parasite multiplication in these cells will provide the basic data for explaining the susceptibility of the cardiomyocytes to the infection with Toxoplasma gondii tachyzoites.Read More
