Abstract: In Japanese vocabulary about 50 percent are Chinese words. They include the words borrowed from Chinese and the words created by Japanese themselves. These words are mainly nouns and there are also verbs, adjectives and adverbs. The Chinese words are mainly used on public and formal occasions. The Chinese words may be classified into “wuyinci”,“hanyinci”,“tangyinci”, “guanyongyinci”. Compared with Chinese, there are four kinds of Chinese words in Japanese , namely, words that share the same forms and meanings with the Chinese words, words that have the same forms and similar meanings with the Chinese words, words that have the same form but different meaning with the Chinese words, and words that don't exist in the Chinese language.
