Title: Study on the axillary bud dynamic and different age tillers' photosyntheticcharacteristics of Vetiveria zizanioides
Abstract: The axillary bud, plant height, tiller number and photosynthetic characteristics of different age tillers of vetiver grass were studied. The results showed that there was an interaction of reciprocal inhibition between axillary bud germination and plant growth during June to October. The number of germinated axillary bud was highest in September and lowest in July. The tilling rate increased in August, the vitality of axillary bud were higher both in June and September while same lower in August and October, which were 91 % and 86 % as well as 61 %.The one year old and two years old axillary buds of vetiver grass had the absolute advantage, the oldest was four years. The net photosynthetic rate of two years old tiller was significantly higher than one year old and three years old tillers, which was 14.534 mmol·m-2·s-1 and was 12.1 % and 33.4 % higher than one year old and three years old tillers respectively.
