Title: On the Poetic Factors and Poeticizing Phenomenon in Traditional Chinese Novels in "Zhanghui" Style
Abstract: Some traditional Chinese novels in Zhanghui style appearing in Ming and Qing Dynasty were related to poetry closely, which was characterized by two aspects: one is there are a great number of poems in the novels;the other is there are poeticized factors in it.These poeticized factors appeared occasionally in the works The Romance of Three Kingdoms,Outlaws of the Marsh, and other works, and up to the highest level in Dream of Red Mansions.Although poeticizing cannot be proved to be the trend of the development of novels, this feature was surely to be continued by some writers after May Fourth Movement, such as Lu Xun,Shen Congwen,Wang Zengqi, etc, and developed into an important school of novels.
