Title: Expression of E2F1 and p16~(INK4α) in gastrointestinal stromal tumors and their relations to prognosis
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of E2F1 and p16INK4α in gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GISTs),and to provide a new pathological evidence for evaluating clinical treatment and prognosis. Methods EnVision immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of E2F1 and p16INK4α in 52 cases of GISTs,and to analyze their relationship with Fletcher grading,progressive disease(PD),expression of CD117 and PKC-θ,and prognosis of GISTs.Results E2F1 expression was positively related to Fletcher grading of GISTs (P0.001).The positive expression rate of E2F1 was 73.1%,and it was significantly different with CD117 positive expression(P0.05).PD incidence in E2F1 expression75% was higher than in E2F1 expression75%(10%,10%-50%,50%-75%,P0.05).p16INK4α protein expressed in different degree among 52 cases of GISTs,and the expression was negatively related to Fletcher grading of GISTs(P0.001).PD incidence in p16INK4α expression50% was higher than in p16INK4α expression50%(50%-75%,75%,P0.05). Conclusion The expression of E2F1 and p16INK4α are closely related with the prognosis of GISTs,and may be considered as molecular markers for prognosis of GISTs.
