Title: Correlations between serum C-reactive protein level and outcome in cerebral infarction
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the relationship between serum C-reactive protein(CRP) and cerebral infarction. Methods Serum C-reactive protein levels were measured in 60 healthy people who received medical examinations. We analyzed the relationship between the serum C-reactive protein levels and the severity of disease as well as outcome. Results The serum level of CRP in patients with thrombosis was higher than in normal controls(P0.01).CRP levels differed significantly among different patients according to their conditions.CRP levels in the patients with serious controls were higher than those of the patients with middle and light conditions(all P0.05).CRP levels in patients with sound outcome were lower than those of the patients with bad outcome(P0.05)).Conclusion The increasing serum C-reactive protein levels of patients with cerebral infarction predicts severe condition and bad prognosis. If relieving the inflammatory reaction in time,we could moderately lower incidence of cerebral infarction and improve prognosis of the patients with cerebral infarction.
