Title: Tectonic evolution and oil and gas accumulation analysis of Dongwan anticline in west of south margin of Junggar Basin, China
Abstract: Junggar Basin is one of the biggest oil- and gas-bearing basins in China. Dongwan anticline area lies in the west of the south margin of Junggar Basin. It mainly experienced Himalayan movement and came into being. There are better source rocks and reservoirs. But the drilling result of Well Dongwan 1, which was finished in 2003, has shown no any indication of hydrocarbon. By analysing the tectonic formation, evolution and structure characteristics and discussing the relation between tectonic evolution and oil and gas accumulation, this paper studies the failure reason of Well Dongwan 1 and at last, points out the favourable exploration areas in the Dongwan anticline area.
