Title: Simulation analysis on tailings dam saturated and semi-saturation infiltration of under rainfall conditions
Abstract: The tailings dam is the most important part of the milling production facilities, whose security and stability plays a vital role to the milling. The tailings dam is also a major hazard source. The volume expands continuously as the dam body increases gradually.Once the tailings dam failure happened, the tailings, mud and water in the pond will be poured out in the form of landslides, which will threat the lives and properties of downstream people and result immeasurable losses. The whole stability of the tailings dam can be reduced for the osmotic pressure under the rain fall conditions, which could result in the dam deformation and slope and even worse lead the tailings dam failure.Using the saturated and semi-saturation infiltration theory, the tailings dam seepage process and stability were analyzed under rain fall conditions.According to the calculated transient seeping field, the transient stability of the tailings dam was analyzed by the shear strength of unsaturated tailings theory. The simulation analysis is useful to improve the safe operation of tailings dam under rainfall conditions, also it is meaningful to reduce the tailings dam failure accident rate and help solve the safety problems in the tailings dam management and improve economic development and social stability.
