Title: Study on stress control standards of high arch dam with self-adaptive finite element method
Abstract: For the study on the relationship between the stress state and equivalent stress of high arch dam and the relevant size and form of the isoparametric elements, the bodies of three high arch dams existed in China are simultaneously fractionized in radial direction, arch direction and radial direction with arch direction by the self-adaptive finite element method. It is obtained that(1)the fractionization in arch direction has less effect on both the stress state and the equivalent stress;(2)the precision of the elements fractionized in radial direction can not meet the requirement concerned;(3)the design requirement can be basically met by fractionizing the arch dam into five layers along the radial direction;(4)the precision of the isoparametric element can be controlled with the estimation of the error concerned and the suggested control range is between 10%~15%.The study shows that the control of the equivalent stress is the key-link for the control of the safety of 300 m high arch dam.
