Title: CORROSION OF COPPER IN Na2SO4 SOLUTION AND INHIBITION OF 2-MERCAPTOBENZOXAZOLE(MBO)

In 0. 5 mol/L Na2SO4 solution, copper corroded and produced a film of corrosion products that lacked protection, resulting in approximately linear mass gain. It was verified by XRD that the corrosion film was mainly composed of several kinds of copper sulfate. With 1 mmol/L MBO, the corrosion was inhibited greatly and an inhibition efficiency of 99% was reached. It was found that the copper electrode immersed in Na2SO4 + MBO solution possessed evident corrosion resistance, indicating that a stable and protection film formed in the immersing treatment.Read More
