Abstract: Jiang Kui was a famous poet and critic of poetry in the South Song dynasty.Unlike the common views,his thinking on poetry was very profound and original.As for the ontology of poetry,he disagreed with the theories and criticism of a Confucian school of idealist philosophy of the Song and Ming dynasties,which had a great vogue in Jiangxi at the time.He persisted in pursuing real feeling rather than flowery language.With respect to the theory of principal part of poetry,he put forward the requirements ranging from external technique and regularity to internal self restraint and intelligence.In terms of writing,he not only summed up a set of techniques and skills,but also stressed powerful comprehension and the spur of his writing is unique in art.His writings were original.His emotions were expressed calmly and good humoredly.
