Title: The Rising of Neo-tradition:Idea Transition and the Life Style in Late Ming Dynasty
Abstract: The main long lasting old tradition that leading Chinese society was the moral view with Confucian ethic discipline as the core. But during the late Ming Dynasty the view of city people had undergone a transition which led the transition of living style, manifesting a new cultural tradition’s happening. The new tradition had the ideas of pursuing human liberty and personality development, material enjoyment and the joy of life, and doubting and criticizing Confucian ethic discipline. This cultural tradition was with the Humanist character, although it was not very mature, it made a deep impression of that time, furthermore, it had been lasting for a long time until after the mid of 19th century provided the original and necessary cultural foundation of the comprehensive starting of the modernization of China.
