Title: Discharge and sediment transporting and riverbed evolution in slightly curved and multi-branched river reach in Jingjiang reach
Abstract: The Shashi reach is a slightly curved and multi-branched river reach with central bars in the middle reach of the Yangtze River, where the channel evolution is very complicated. This article analyzes the change characteristics of the water flow, the channel scouring/silting mode and the influence of the incoming water sediment and channel form on water sediment transporting in the reach. The channel scouring/silting is determined by incoming water, incoming sediment and channel form;but the influence of the channel form and the incoming water process is more significant, which also can be shown by the close relationship between the discharge variation rate and the scouring depth in widening reach.Based on these, the shift characteristics of the main flow in the reach are analyzed;it is found that the rise and decline of branches is the nature of the riverbed evolution in the Shashi reach.
